Hey everybody!

It has been three years since I was a brand new student, fresh out of high school. I'm currently in my fourth year. I started this blog in an attempt to keep my family, friends and any prospective students up to date with my life at the University of Lethbridge. I'm continuing with it this year as it worked well. Thanks for reading!

February 27th, 2013

So I haven't updated in a while. Nothing much has been going on here. I just got back from Reading Week back in Stony Plain which was nice. I caught a ride up with Ryan Maguire (he's a mutual friend of Sam's and he's from Wataskiwin). It was nice to talk to someone about Doctor Who (which is my new obsession along with Sherlock). Aside from that, there's not much happening. I'm smack in the middle of Midterms which are never any fun. I have a meeting next week to talk to an adviser about my International Semester in Belgium, just to get things organized.

Over Reading Week I really didn't do much of anything. I met up with Daniel Fraser, Nathan Doroshuk, Graham Mosimann and Kelsey Vankosky. And I went shopping for new clothes because I really haven't had anything new in a few years. Mostly I just watched TV and worked on my take-home Midterm in Research Methodology.

Oh and Andrea is still interested in living in this basement suite next year so it looks like my housing panic has subsided, I'll just have to find someone to cover my contract Spring 2014. Everything's looking good. I should have more to tell everyone next week once my meetings are finished and I start to get Midterms back.

late posting but here it goes:

This year has been the best Valentine's Day EVER!!!

There's no particular reason why, it's just been awesome. My classes weren't terrible, I even handed out Valentine's in them! I got together with my study group to work on some stuff and brought them all donuts. Life wasn't stressful or tense, it was just an overall good day.

The cherry on top thought would be the surprise I had for my best friend Kelsie Schlese! Her boyfriend Matt works up in Fort McMurray and was supposed to be back in Lethbridge next Wednesday, which sucks because it means he isn't here for Valentines Day so Kelsie and I (and a few other sisters) decided to go to Montana's for supper at 7. However, things changed when I got a phone call from Matt at 2 p.m. He was back in Lethbridge early! He wanted to surprise Kelsie when I took her out for supper. Not only that, but he was going to Lavalier her tonight!!! For those of you who don't know, in Greek Life (sororities and fraternities) Lavaliering is the equivalent of giving someone a promise ring, it's pretty serious stuff! So he wanted me to keep him informed on when we were leaving, if things changed, etc. So I was just bursting with this secret! I was texting him all the details and I was over at Kelsie's a little later getting my hair done (because she's awesome at that) and she noticed nothing! I honestly couldn't believe it. Every other girl there noticed I was acting weird except her.

When we got to Montana's the place was pretty much dead (which was a surprise considering it's Valentines Day) and I walk in behind Kelsie and Matt is standing in the foyer with a bouquet looking all dashing. She looks right at him and then walks to the counter! Like she didn't even see him! Once she tells the hostess that there will be 10 of us, she turns around and starts talking to me. Meanwhile, Matt's looking at me like he's missing something and all the sisters with us are staring at him because, of course, they know who he is. And I can't help but stand there and stare awkwardly at Kelsie for a few seconds. I mean, EVERYONE in the restaurant knows he's here to surprise her and she didn't notice him! He was the only one standing there!

So I ask Kelsie to turn around and she gives me the dirtiest look ever! Like "What are you talking about?" But she does it anyways, makes eye contact with him, he smiles... and she keeps turning!!! She didn't see him AGAIN! She looks back at me and then her eyes get really big! It was absolutely hilarious! I still can't believe that she didn't see him twice! She's not very observant!

Either way, we all sat down for dinner and it was wonderful. I got to spend Valentines eating good food and hanging out with my sisters instead of worrying about stupid boys. Best Valentines Day EVER!
