So for any prospective UofL Faculty of Management students reading this, APPLY FOR CO-OP's now!!! I don't care if you're in your 1st or 4th year, do it now! Don't make the same mistakes I did! I applied WAAAAAAYY too late to accomplish what Co-ops are designed to do. For any of you who don't know what a co-op is, here is a link : U of L Management Co-op. Even if you don't think you'll EVER want to do a co-op, apply for the program anyways so that you don't miss any opportunities. Up to 80% of employers higher their future employees through the Co-op program.
I am now in the Co-op Program and am trying to get all my ducks in a row to get good employment for the summer and next year. The process basically is that you go in for an intake appointment, review your cover letter and resume, go to a workshop, then start applying. So I've done all that, and because I applied so late to the program, my application process has been fast-tracked.
Today was my "Mock Interview". The program has this opportunity to sit down and be interviewed by men and women actually working in the management industry to give us a chance to test out our interview skills. My interviewer was absolutely amazing. She made me feel relaxed without being unprofessional. And accept for a few minor details, she said my interview skills were exceptional. It was very scary being interviewed AND video-recorded (they give you the option to record yourself to see how you comport yourself in these situations) but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. If you're in the Co-op program, definitely apply to participate in the Mock Interviews.
Hey everybody!
It has been three years since I was a brand new student, fresh out of high school. I'm currently in my fourth year. I started this blog in an attempt to keep my family, friends and any prospective students up to date with my life at the University of Lethbridge. I'm continuing with it this year as it worked well. Thanks for reading!

Last night was the Once Upon a Bride staff Christmas Party. After the store closed we all got dressed up and walked down the street to this beautiful restaurant called Plum. It's a little more high end than I'm used to but the food was amazing! I had sliders to start, followed by pork tenderloin, and poached pears for dessert. It was to die for!
After supper we had our Secret Santa. I got Deonie (our general manager and a HUGE geek just like me!) and one of her favorite TV Shows is Once Upon a Time so I got her a hand-made painting of the Red Apple (the Evil Queen's apple from Snow White). She loved it! Which was super exciting! It's always nice to give people things they actually like! Ironically, Deonie got my name as well, and she got be a soft TARDIS blanket (picture of a Tardis from TV Show Doctor Who), so now I have one to put in my car.
Yesterday was also Roan's 1st birthday (Loring's nephew), and today was Loring's birthday! He came down from Medicine Hat to visit for the day. So we got up, and went to Cora's for breakfast. Then we were going to go bowling but there were no lanes available to we came home and watched movies until about 5pm when I took him to Moxie's for his birthday supper. I got him a beautiful trip-tic (3 photos side by side) of myself blowing snow taken by Kelly Desjarlais!

Today is my 22 Birthday!!!!! I can't believe a year ago today I was celebrating my birthday in a foreign country, and now I'm back in Lethbridge, surrounded by friends!
To be quite honest, today was a typical Friday for me. I got up, opened my birthday presents from my mom (Apples to Apples, a tablecloth/napkin set, a necklace set) and my aunt (a Chapters gift card and a Fairie Door!) and went to work (yes I worked on my birthday, I love my job so much I didn't bother requesting if off). Because it was my birthday, I brought a cheesecake to work for the girls. I wanted to celebrate and who can say no to Red Velvet Cheesecake? Anyways, after work, Kelsie had lots of the sisters come over for a Passion Party (definitely not my idea) but it was fun either way. Good friends and hilarious conversations always make for a good Birthday.

It was one year ago today that I stepped onto that airplane that took me to Belgium for an incredible 6 months of my life! It is a time I will never forget and will always miss. Belgium because a second home for me and a part of me will always want to return. Thank you to everyone who supported me and all the amazing friendships I made while over there!

Last semester was absolutely insane, I spent all my time working on projects and studying for exams. It wasn't overwhelming but it did take up all my free time. I guess it paid off because I got my highest GPA ever at the University, 3.88 out of 4.0, which translates into two As and three A-s! I'm so sorry it has taken forever to post but I'm going to be more diligent this semester!
Christmas was wonderful! Loring and I went up to Stony Plain to visit my family over Christmas. It was a little bitter sweet for him because we got to spend Christmas together but it was the first Christmas since his grandfather had passed away.
We had Christmas dinner at my older sister, Shannon's this year, which was a nice change. She is an AMAZING cook and her food lived up to that reputation!
On Boxing Day Loring and I had to return to Lethbridge because I had to work on the 27th. As a trade off for getting the next week off (this past week), I had to work the 27th, which wasn't too bad, I sold a couple Bridesmaids dresses and the day overall was relaxing.
The 28th was when my real "vacation" began and I went to Medicine Hat to spend it with Loring and to help him move into his new apartment. So for my vacation, I spent it cleaning, packing and organizing all his stuff lol, but it was nice to spend some quality time together where neither of us were stressing about work or school.
Yesterday we went skiing at Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Cypress Hills! It was amazing! I haven't been on skis in years and it was so much fun to go with Loring, his brother Victor, and their cousin Rachel.
We skied for a couple hours before these HUGE fog banks rolled in, you couldn't see the chair lift from the chalet it was so dense. We were also all getting tired and my legs were killing me! So we returned to Medicine Hat after that.
Overall, my Christmas vacation has been amazing and I'm NOT looking forward to returning to school on Wednesday! This semester I will be taking very intense courses. Leading Organizational Change, Staffing, Policy and Strategy, Sociology, and Sustainable Tourism.
