So I've basically spent the whole weekend at Sam's. I went over Friday night because she was having a party. We all got very drunk and disorderly. I, unfortunately, had to play catch up.. which wasn't very good. I always seem to loose when we play drinking games. At her little party was the two of us (obviously), Sean, Brad, Brad's younger brother & his girlfriend, and one of Sam's friends from back home. Once everyone was very much inebriated it was time for bed. Apparently, Sam's friend had a giant crush on her and wanted to sleep in her bed that night. Thank goodness I was there because I kinda laid claim to it. From my point of view, I was gonna end up sharing a bed with someone and I would much prefer it be Sam than a drunk boy. MY GOODNESS was her bed comfy... She has memory foam or something on it, either way it was the best night's sleep I've gotten in a long time!
When we woke up, apparently her friend decided to go home. We got up at 9 and he was already gone. Sam decided to make Sean and I breakfast. Sam is one of the best cooks I know. She made bacon and pancakes and they were perfect! Mmm my mouth is watering just thinking about them. During breakfast we watched Get Him to The Greek. After breakfast, we went shopping because that night was Christmas Dinner at Sam's place. Thank goodness we got to stop at my place so I could change my clothes and grab my Yorkshire Pudding recipe. I know, you're not supposed to have Yorkshire Pudding with Turkey but I wanted to contribute something! While the turkey was cooking, Sam, Sean and I studied a bit for our Information Technology Final that was later on in the week.
For Dinner, one of Sam's co-worker's from Wal-mart came, as well as Brittney, Vicky and Brady. (Vicky's in the sorority with me). It took a little longer than expected to cook the turkey. The first time we cut into it it was still raw, but once everything was done it was fantastic! There was stuffing and mashed potatoes. My Yorkshire Pudding's came out perfectly!
Dinner conversation (what little there was because we were all stuffing our faces) was about Brady's police stuff. He's at the college for Police right now and he was regaling us with stories about his practical work. Dessert was a choice between two different cakes, Chocolate or Oreo. Both were delicious. I don't think anyone could finish what was on their plates. It was all so good! Sam even packed us each a TV Dinner with the leftovers! It was really late when Sean dropped me off at home. I was absolutely stuffed and I think I slept until noon today!
Hey everybody!
It has been three years since I was a brand new student, fresh out of high school. I'm currently in my fourth year. I started this blog in an attempt to keep my family, friends and any prospective students up to date with my life at the University of Lethbridge. I'm continuing with it this year as it worked well. Thanks for reading!

Tonight was Kelsie Schlese's Birthday At Pops Pub. Kelsie and I have become really close this year so of course I went to celebrate her Birthday. Plus, (and she came up with this name, not me) every Tuesday for the past few weeks we've gone out, either for Karaoke or for supper, something that has been dubbed "Drunk Tuesdays". Pops was awesome. Kelsie got very, very drunk. All she had to do was ask the waitress to bring her something yummy. She had a shot called the Ninja Turtle which had a few different colored layers, apparently it was good, and the bar tender kept coming up with very fruity drinks for her, one was even melon flavored! Everyone kept buying her shots. There was a mix of DHI girls and some of her D/E 2 friends from last year in attendance. Halfway through the evening, Name that Tune begins. Obviously we had to play. It was a pretty tight competition. One of her friends had to get up and pretend to be Ricky Martin. Oh my gosh! He started dancing in a way that very much reminded me of Daniel Fraser back home! The other two in the competition took one look at him and gave up. Needless to say, we won, big time! It was awesome.

Yesterday was lock in. It was a ton of fun. We were supposed to watch movies and play games but there were no cords, again, so the movie was out. Oh well, it was a blast either way. Some of the girls played Apples to Apples and we made collages and friendship bracelets. Just a bunch of girly things!
Today was initiations. Now I can't say much about it except Congratulations to all my new, wonderful sisters! Welcome to Delta Eta Iota! We did all the traditions and it was wonderful to welcome all the new lovely ladies into our sisterhood.

So today was a VERY busy day! At 7 am I had to be up so I could register for all my classes. I got into all but 1, that one being a third year course so I wasn't really expecting to get into it first try. It wasn't too bad, I got to go back to bed after it. I am now in Managing Accounting, Research Methodology, Human Resources Management, Neuroscience Brain and Behavior. I still need to get into Managing Responsibly in a Global Environment. Next semester looks to be very study-orientated.
This afternoon was our D/E1 Reunion Potluck at Alicia & Veronica's place. I was the second to arrive, just after Cody (no surprise there!) I had to leave early but it was a lot of fun none the less. I brought Potato Casserole (Terista Still's recipe from back home) and it seemed to be a hit. Most of the girls were there, Amy, Allie, Cheyenne, etc. Ben came. Even Micheal came! We barely saw him at ALL last year but he came to the reunion potluck! It was so good to see everyone again. I wish more people could've come but it was good to see those who did.

The reason I had to leave early was because of the Fraternities annual Black Light Party. Kelly came to pick me up and we went over to Jocelyn's for some pre-gaming. It was hilarious! I love spending time with my sisters! For the blacklight party, everyone had to wear a white shirt that they were okay with people writing on. All the lights in the frat house had been replaced with black lights. So it was basically a giant party but there were highlighters circulating that you could write on people with. It was so much fun! Although, frat guys will be frat guys. They tried something that they dubbed "Stair Whiskey" and (only if you wanted!!!) when you came up the stairs from the basement, you could stand on the landing and they would try to pour straight whiskey from the upstairs into your mouth. I was definitely not dumb enough to try that! Everyone got a little rowdy but Alysha offered to be the DD so at least we didn't have to pay for a taxi home!
November 17th, 2012
So tonight was the Christmas cabaret for Residence Students. My DHI little sister Liesl Geib invited me to go with her. Liesl and I both had huge puffy ball gowns, which looked hilarious standing in Dorica's living room while we were getting ready! It was so much fun!! I got to wear my graduation dress again which was wonderful, and I got to see a bunch of people from my residence floor last year who have become RA's.
Left to Right; Dorica, Liesl, Kaitlin, Alex, Me
The Cab was so much fun! We danced and laughed and had a great time. Alex wasn't feeling well so she left early, unfortunately. I had so much fun, probably twice as much as my own Christmas Cab last year.
November 16th, 2012
So tonight was the other half of the pledge classes fundraiser. And they had a Casino Night! It was stupendous !! They raised over $550 and brought in over $600 in donations from various businesses around Lethbridge. I am absolutely amazed at the dedication these girls are showing to Delta.
I had a ton of fun at the Casino Night! They had various games such as Poker, Black Jack, Roulette and a few games of chance as well. I met a lot of cool people. I went bankrupt by 7 p.m. but I managed to help Kristin hold onto her money at the Black Jack table for a few more hours. I also won one of the Door Prizes. It was a spa kit worth over $100! It had shampoo and conditioner, a foot pumice, soaps, a music box and a diffuser! It is absolutely beautiful and it came in a Paris themed box!
November 15th, 2012
Tonight was the People Auction Fundraiser by our DHI Pledges Tuesday Class. It was amazing!! I am so proud of our girls and I cannot wait to make them official sisters! They auctioned off 12 people for a minimum of $10 and they ended up with over $200!!
It was very entertaining watching which people came out to bid on specific people. Tyler, one of Alex's friends, was bid on this kinda scary looking girl who glared at anyone who tried to bid on him. I of course, being the good friend, bid everyone up if I could see that they really wanted someone! Either way, the proceeds went to charity so I don't feel bad!
Back Posting!!
I apologize for all the back posts but life has been pretty chaotic lately. Now that it's after Christmas everything has calmed down slightly. Again, I apologize, but everything's up now!

Andrea and I went to support Alysha at the Men and Women's Pronghorns Basketball Game. Stuart and a couple other friends came out to show support as well. It was a ton of fun. I love going to University sporting events, the crowds are always so pumped up. Alysha is on the U of L dance team, it's a lot of work but she seems to love it. Women won their game but Men lost (honestly it was no surprise, the Men were not playing their best).

Tonight we went out to diner with our Islam prof. The Class went to a traditional Afghan restaurant and had traditional food (which was actually really good!). I felt kinda bad because Nicolette and I had to leave early because we had to go to the Greek Murder Mystery Party that night as well. I have no idea what I ate but it was tasty. We're all going back at the end of the month.
The Murder Mystery Night with Greek Life was fantastic! I got to wear my grad dress again, which was fantastic. Overall it was just a lot of fun. Only a few of us had roles, my little sister Liesl was Prom Queen and my other little sister Alex was an extra like me:

So, here's a recap of my week, and just so everyone knows, all the problems have been sorted out.
All the problems started Tuesday night when we got a phone call from our landlord Phil telling us that either mine or Alysha's cheque had bounced. Me, knowing my bad luck, went online to check to see if Rent had come out of my account. It hadn't. So I check my recent statement and it said "A hold has been placed on your account." So I call TD to ask what the problem was.
Apparently, when I took in all of my student information mid-September into the local TD Branch, the idiot manager at the time never forwarded to the correct people or updated in the system! (I found out later that he had been fired for being incompetent) The wonderful lady on the other end tried everything but she could not remove the hold that had been place on my line of credit.
Wednesday, I went into the same TD Branch to give them a piece of my mind. The Branch Manager was wonderful. She took a look at everything, changed all my information in the computer systems and removed the hold on my account. She also said that TD would be willing to repay our landlord for the NSF fee he was charged when my cheque bounced. I wrote Phil a new cheque and everything was sorted out.
All of this happened the day before my midterms! That tuesday, I had a French Quiz and an Information Technology Midterm (which I got 91.7% on). Wednesday night I spent studying with Stuart (one of my friends in my Organizational Behavior Class) because Thursday morning I had my Organizational Behavior Midterm and my Accounting Midterm. I also have a Book Report due next week as well as a French essay.
Now that all that crap is done, I can focus on sorority events.

So this week has been big in the world of Natural Disasters. We've just heard that a huge Earthquake, the largest in 60 years, has hit the BC coast, provoking Tsunami warnings as far south as Hawaii as well as huge aftershocks. So far no deaths have been reported, BC looks to have avoided the worst of it.
Hurricane Sandy is heading towards the Maritimes with deadly force. It seems to have missed Florida but New York is under evacuation orders. The subway systems have been shut down as well as Schools and the New York Stock Exchange. According to the Radar, it looks to hit the great lakes by Friday. If you are in that area or have family or friends there, stay tuned to the news and hope for the best.

So this night was the Sorority's Halloween Party!! It was so much fun! All the Greeks were invited as well as a plus one if they wanted. I was part of the set-up crew so I was at Jade's (our president) at 6 p.m. to start decorating. We ordered Chinese from Coalhurst's Coyote Diner, which was great by itself. I must say, her house looked pretty fantastic for only $30 worth of decorations!
There was a ton of people there, all dancing and having fun! I brought my friend Alicia Szmaciarz as my plus one. We only stayed until Midnight but it was so much fun either way. I can't wait for next year!
Alicia and I (Alicia is masquerade and I am Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games)

So Wednesday night, my littles (Alex & Liesl) and I had a Harry Potter night! Since the three of us adore Harry Potter, I thought it would be a great idea to have a Harry Potter night with the two of them. And when I say Harry Potter night, I mean everything Harry Potter! I made homemade Harry Potter treats and everything!! Pumpkin Juice, Hagrid's Rock Cakes, Sugar Mice, and Pumpkin Pasties! Plus we watched Harry Potters 1,7&8! I ordered off of Amazon the Harry Potter Wizard's Collection (pictured below) as well as an Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook so I figured might as well get some use out of it!
Funny story though, I was cooking all day long to get ready for tonight and everything seemed to be going fine. When they got here I put in a couple of pizzas so we could have some actual food as well as all the sugar, and they wouldn't cook! They were in the oven for at least an hour and were still raw so I say to hell with them and ordered pizzas instead. Once the oven cooled, Alysha and I investigated and found the source of my problem. At some point during the day, I had blown the bottom element in the oven!!! So I killed our oven lol. We called our landlord and he had it fixed by Friday.
We were up until 3 a.m. watching movies (which was kind of unfortunate as I had an 8 a.m. class but I did make it to class! Be proud!). It was so much fun but I did get into a little bit of trouble with some of the other sisters and pledges as they want a Harry Potter night as well, so next semester I'm planning on having another one for the whole sorority.

So tonight was Delta Eta Iota Sorority's Annual Pumpkin Carving Potluck! One of my little sisters, Alex Funke, was very sick. The 24hr flu has been going around and she caught it bad, so unfortunately she couldn't make it. My other little, Liesl Geib, did come out though so her and I had fun. My roommate Andrea and I brought mashed potatoes for the potluck. There was all kinds of food there! We had homemade spring rolls to sandwhiches, mashed potatoes, cookies, etc.
Here is me and Liesl (she is always so well dressed while I show up in T-Shirts & Jeans!) Our pumpkin is of the Deathly Hallows
Here are all the pumpkins we made. Our girls are always so creative! We have everything from a princess pumpkin to a cat!
After we ate, we paired up with our Little Sisters to carve our pumpkins! Liesl, Alex and I all adore Harry Potter, and since Alex couldn't be there, we carved a Harry Potter pumpkin and I think it turned out amazingly if I do say so myself!

So tonight was Rocky Horror Picture Show and it was amazing!!!!! Before the show, my godparents Les & Jean stopped by and took me to supper at the Firestone. They were down for a wedding and I'm really glad I got to see them. Supper was fantastic, even though the waiter forgot to bring me back my lasagna boxed up!
I cannot say enough about the show.
My friend Jonathan Reiswig was Rocky and Jay Northcott was an extra. The show actually blew my mind, it was amazing.
I went with my sorority sisters. We had all the girls come over to our house before hand to have a few drinks and get dressed up. We also met up with a few of my management friends there...

They guys went even more overboard than us girls! I was thoroughly impressed by Sean Annis dressing up, heels and everything! (he's the girl in the bright pink shirt and black skirt)
Overall, it was a wonderful night full of laughs and I had a ton of fun!!

So today has been exceptionally windy, which is saying something for Lethbridge! School is still going well, just getting out of the first round of midterms and so far I'm still breathing!
I've been doing a lot of group projects lately that have been eating up my time. That being the case, I unfortunately can't come home for the 20th Anniversary Choir Show this year. There is way too much going on in my life right now school wise and there is no way I can get home and back for the show without missing classes unless I fly home, which would cost $600.
Although, I have made some time to hang out with my sorority sisters; getting out of the house once in a while. We're going to Rocky Horror Picture Show this Friday at Midnight. The University Drama Department is performing it all week and a few of my friends are in it. If any of you are reading this, Break a Leg!
I've also found my Halloween Costume this year! After the DHI party on he 26th I'll upload some photo's so you all can see it, but I'm going as Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games.

Happy Belated Birthday to Graham Mosimann, a whopping 20 years old yesterday!
Aside from that, there's not much to report. School is going really well, all my classes are wonderful. I currently studying for Midterms.
I don't think I've mentioned which classes I'm in this semester! I'm taking:
Introduction to Islam
Organizational Behavior
Accounting
Information Technology
French 2000
So ya, I probably won't write until after Thanksgiving, so Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Welcome back ladies and gentleman!
I have recently started my second year at the University of Lethbridge, and keeping with last year, will use this page to keep my friends and family up to date with what's going on in my life here.
First and foremost, I apologize for starting to late! Life and been pretty hectic recently and I haven't had a chance to write. That being said, I will try to summarize my summer and first week here at school.
To begin, my condolences go out to Gina Baretta and her family as they mourn the unexpected loss of her father. Gina was my main co-worker at my summer job this year and we grew to be good friends. My prayers are with her through this difficult time.
I worked all summer as the Supervisor at the Stony Plain & District Visitor Information Centre in my home town. As previously mentioned, I spent most of the summer with Gina Baretta, and amazing woman who is now attending Concordia University College in Edmonton. Summer was a lot of fun. I got to meet a bunch of interesting people and learn a ton of new things about tourism in Alberta.
The last week of my job however, I had my Wisdom Teeth removed, which I'm still recovering from. The first day was the worst! On the drive home, I didn't make it 20 minutes before I threw up all over myself. I apparently swallowed a lot of blood and didn't drink enough Ginger Ale before I took my pain medication, a really bad combination. All day I was starving, but didn't feel like eating, my medication made me dizzy and nauseous, plus I couldn't feel my face from the 24 hr Ice packs wrapped around them. It slowly got better, I got off the heavy pain killers and life pretty much got back to normal.
This year I am living with two of my sorority sisters, Alysha Young and Andrea Ziel, and so far, so good. We get along great, there have been a few minor issues but there always will be when you have three girls moving in together. I love my room and our place. We have a beautiful three bedroom basement suite, literally a ten minute walk from the University. We also have an amazing landlord who fixes anything we need fixing without complaint, he helped us move some furniture in, he re-painted and renovated one of the bedrooms because we asked, and without charging us for it! Plus, he let me move in last week of August and we didn't have to pay for that extra time and we can leave our stuff here next summer for only half of what we pay in rent per month! This place is really a dream come true, I can't imagine us living anywhere else. I'll try and get pictures up this weekend.
Classes are going well so far. My favorite is by far Islam. The prof is really cool and the material is really interesting.
This is also Rush Week at the University meaning that all the clubs on campus are trying to get people to sign up. I volunteered to make the schedule for our table, Delta Eta Iota Sorority, which I kind of regret as it was a lot more work than I expected it to be. I don't know what it is with the Sorority Events, but every time there's an emergency in Lethbridge, it seems to fall on a day when we have an event. Take Monday for instance. Another huge fire!
A downed power line met the dry grass on the Blood Indian Reserve near Lethbridge and started a fire. Not to mention, winds were gusting up to 110 km/hr that day which didn't help matters.
(I DID NOT TAKE THESE PHOTOs, I got them off of news sites and other internet resources, I was nowhere near the fire, I was at the University on evacuation stand-by)
So that was an interesting turn of events. So far that really seems to be it. I'm currently taking a study break and decided I should get some posts up on my blog about my life again. At 7 I'm going to a Games Night Mixer at the University with Kappa Pi Chi and Kappa Sigma to mingle with the potential pledges and to get to know the current members a little more.

So I finished my last final today! It is so nice to be free! A lot of the people on my floor are leaving today and it makes me sad because I won't see them for 4 months, but we have plans to get together once school starts again. This year has gone by so fast! Thanks everyone for taking the trip with me. I'm moving home tomorrow and unless something wonderful happens this summer, I'll re-commence my blogs in September. See y'all then!

So last night was our sorority's formal and it was a lot of fun. We took photo's first:
After photo's we went to the Lethbridge Lodge for supper and awards. The food was mediocre at best and a little on the expensive side, but the night was pretty fun either way. My big sister Shanna was there as well which I was happy about, we finally got a photo for the three generations:
I won the "Big Sister" award, meaning that I was the big sister that spent the most time with her little sister and invested the most into her.
This semester the sorority tried to create a new award called the "Founder's Award" which would go to the woman who best exemplified the values of Delta Eta Iota. Unfortunately, it didn't really get off the ground so we will try again next semester. However, after supper, Niccolette came up to me and told me that if she had had enough time, she would nominate me, so of course I burst into tears and thank her.
Overall, last night was amazing! I'm going to miss everyone so much over the summer but I'll see them next year!

Second, it is the last day of classes!!!!!!!!!!! I survived my first year of University!!!!!!!!!!!
Third, I have been offered a Supervisor position through Stony Plain's Chamber of Commerce! Yay I have a source of income this summer!
Fourth, it is only 1:45 so the day has more in store for me!

First of all, Happy Birthday George (and Fred) Weasley!
On another note, today was the sororities "Murder Mystery Party"! It was a ton of fun! Keltey on my floor did my hair and I wore my blue dress. Everyone looked amazing! I was the contestant from Mississippi and am happy to say the I was not the murderer nor was I the victim!
Also, these are the two lovely ladies (my sorority sisters) whom I will be getting a house with next year;

Me, Alysha, Andrea
Also, my other sorority sister, Jocelyn, is a promoter for a meal-replacement shake called ViSalus. It looks really good and I've had several people recommend it to me. I went and asked the Health Center about it and they said that they don't see anything wrong in trying it. Jocelyn wants me to take the 90 day challenge and think I might so I was wondering if anyone reading this had any objections to ViSalus. For 90 days it will be $300 for the shakes which will replace breakfast and lunch. So it's not a rip off money wise at least.

So today was probably the most beautiful day weather wise we've had all year. The sun was out and magnificently hot with fluffy white clouds lazily floating through the sky.
Today was the day of the final Rez Wars competition, the Movie competition. All the movies were fantastic but I personally think ours was the best. We rewrote the Four Chords Song (basically a whole bunch of songs smushed together) and wrote a Rap about our life on D/E 1 this year.
D/E 1 Floor Video
We came in second to New Village Townhomes which is understandible as they are all third and fourth years, many in New Media. They rewrote a song as well which basically made fun of them being older than the rest of us.
Placing 2nd in the Movie Competition also place us in 2nd place for All of Rez Wars
1st. D/E 3
2nd. D/E 1
3rd. Kainai
I'm so happy how well Rez Wars turned out, it was a lot of fun!
After the movie's premiered, Lauren and I took blankets outside and read in the sun until it started raining. It was gorgeous out and thank goodness I wore my sunscreen because half the floor came back inside with sunburns.

So today was our Theta class' first Meeting and it went well. This Sunday we're having a "Murder Mystery" event, themed a Miss America Pageant (I am Mary Mississippi). I was also elected as Secretary of Delta Eta Iota which is and executive position! I'm so happy! I've also been elected Historian and Scheduler of Rush Week. I'm happy to take on these new positions! Go me!
March 25th, 2012
So initiations for Delta Eta Iota Sorority were tonight and I am proud to say that I now have five new sisters! Mackenzie, Shannon, Shawney, Brittney and Nicole! Welcome Ladies to a lifetime of sisterhood. Initiations went really well and supper was good.
After getting home I went up to the recording studio where our floor was recording our song for the final Rez Wars competition, once it's done I will post it but I'm really excited for it!

So I just spent three and a half hours in the Lethbridge emergency room because my friend Keltey Whelan almost cut the tops of her fingers off! She was opening a can of Chicken soup and slice! She was oddly calm about it. She walked into the kitchen and asked me to have a look at it (because apparently I'm the only one capable of diagnosing when someone needs stitches) and I almost gagged! It was so gross. So I wrapped her hand in several paper towels and tissues and we walked up to the Health Center to get a second opinion. They told us to go to the hospital so I drove Keltey there in her car.
She didn't get in until 6 p.m. (we got there at 3) and I had to leave at 6:30 to make it back to the University for my Masonic Bursary Interview (which went really well by the war). So I had to leave her there, and I felt really bad but I made sure two other girls from our floor were there before I left her because by that time it was all starting to sink and and she was getting scared. She's fine now, eight stitches in her ring and middle fingers on her right hand, so she can't do any art projects for a while, but she's fine.
All my business is almost done as well! I just have some recording to do for a Rez Wars event plus some Sorority stuff and an Economics Midterm but other than that I'm done!

That's probably the one thing I love most about Lethbridge, Chinooks! Today's weather was beautiful!!!! We had a picnic for lunch, in T-Shirts! I wonder if their'll be Northern Lights tonight? Usually when a strong Chinook blows in, there are the most beautiful Northern Lights that night. Anyways, back to homework! Oh I should let you all know, I got an 80% on my Macro Economics midterm! Yay! And I'm pretty busy with sorority events as well.

I am exhausted! But I had a ton of fun tonight!
So my night begins when Kurt and I are in Alex's pod with Kevin helping them get ready because their going dancing at the Lethbridge Big Band performance. Alex wants me to go as well but I needed a date as it was ballroom dancing all night, somehow we managed to convince Kurt into going too so we then had 5 minutes to get ready before the taxi arrived to pick us up. (I haven't shaved or anything, it was bad!) But we make it, and we look good (if I do say so myself)
So we all go dancing! It was amazing! Waltzing and other assorted ballroom dances all to a live band! Wow! We danced until the very last song (I have the blisters to prove it) but it was one of the greatest nights I've had here! So magical!

So today was soooo much fun!!!
My sorority little sister, Mackenzie, invited me to a "party" she was having at her place. Unbeknownst to me, all her friends are Mormon so their idea of a party is completely different than what I thought it would be. We watched American Idol then ended up at the temple playing dodgeball in the gym until 1 a.m! After that, I gave her and a few of her friends a tour of residence in UHall and I showed them all the creepy places in the Fine Art building, including all the ghost stories! It was a ton of fun and I'm really glad I got to meet them!

Sorry this took so long to get up.
Tonight, Kevin Jackson and I performed at Open Mic Night in the Zoo, and it didn't go over so well. In fact, I'm not sure if I want to perform there ever again.
In our set list, Kevin & I were going to play "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, and "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas. I was super excited and invited everyone I could to come watch. Cody and Veronica on the floor rent out video camera's to record our performance for the year end video even! The Zoo had also hired a band for that night to close the show after the performers. And this is the beginning of my disappointment.
Kevin and I were supposed to perform at 6:45. At 7:20, we finally get onstage, only to have the amp not work for Kevin's guitar. We have to use one of the two mics for it now, which means that all the harmonies we worked on were for nothing as I'm the only one with a vocal mic. Then we start performing, and people are talking over us! I was not happy at all. Also, the sound system wasn't turned up correctly, so they really couldn't hear what we were doing anyways. After we perform Imagine, the "host" comes up to us and tells us that we're getting cut short because the "band was getting angry and wanted to start performing already"! Seriously! Open mic night is for the students! Not for some stupid band that you hired! They couldn't wait the extra 5 minutes it would've taken to let us finish all three songs. We were told we had time for one more, so we did Little Wonders. Then we were essentially kicked off the stage. Neither Kevin nor I are happy about this because it also messes up what he's performing with Max on our floor as well.
I don't even wait for the band, which upsets some of the people I'm with. But in my eyes, if their not willing to let us finish what we've been working on for months, they don't deserve my attention. Why should I respect people who are that selfish. So I leave, and Kevin, Veronica, and Cody come with me. We perform out set for the floor then, to make up for the Zoo and that performance goes off without a hitch! (The only upside to that night). And I promise, as soon as Cody's finished editing the footage, I'll post it here for you all so see!
As promised...

So today, Meagan Thorlakson and I had a "Big Bang Theory" Marathon all day! We got through season 3 and started season 4. Meagan and I decided we wanted frozen yogurt, but unfortunately everything was closed. Even after all that however, we still didn't feel as though we'd had our share of geekiness, and so at 10 p.m. she then turns to me and asks if I wanted to go on a road trip. Right then! So we hop into the car, drive over to Safeway (because we still want frozen yogurt)... plus we want chips for the drive
Then we drive straight out of Lethbridge, headed for.......
Vulcan, Alberta!!!!! Woot!!! We get there about midnight and just drive around, geeking out on all the Star Trek stuff!
It was a really random but really fun night! Yay Meagan!

So today was my 19th Birthday, the first away from home, and unfortunately I had class. But on the bright side, Bill Nye the "Science Guy" came to give a guest lecture to the school! That was so cool! I'm pretty sure every public school kid from my generation knows who Bill Nye is. I got is autograph and a picture with him, and yes, his eyebrows do really look like that in real life!
After Bill Nye, Hannah and Connor, two of Alicia's friends from Lacomb took me out to the Zoo for a few drinks before they had to go home. Then Nicki drove me and a few other people to the Stone for supper and drinks. It was so nice. Several of the DHI sisters showed up, as well as several people on my floor. They bought me pretty interesting drinks to say the least.
When we got back, Kevin and Alex (she lives on my floor and is as big of a Harry Potter/music geek as I am) had a birthday present for me. The card was referencing the Wizard of Oz and Wicked, which I was really happy about, then Kevin showed me what they got me! It's a stuffed giraffe and it is supper cute!!!!!! I named him Devlin! Then we went for a walk, just the three of us, around campus. Its so nice to actually be able to hang out with Kevin and Alex, they both have more free time on their hands now that it's 2nd semester. All in all, I had a fantastic birthday!

First of all Happy Birthday to my nephew Tyler!
Last night was the spa/movie night for DHI. We had a potluck, watched Sydney White and painted our nails. It was set up as a meet and greet with potential new pledges just to show them that being in a sorority is fun and it really is a sisterhood. (Although as we watched Sydney White we had to tell them the differences between the awful things that happen in the movie and actually things we do in real life!)
It was a lot of fun!
After the Movie Night I went back to the floor and jammed with Kevin, Kurt and Alicia some more. That is turning into my favorite past time at the University (when I'm not studying of course like I am now). Kevin and I worked on a few of the songs we'll be doing (eventually) for Open Mic Night. Kurt's improving a ton! When we started he could carry a tune but his pitch was way off, now though he harmonizes without us telling him which notes to sing, its truly amazing. The only huge thing left to work on for him is his timing....
This morning however I got a lovely surprise in the mail! The Complete 8-DVD Collection of the Harry Potter DVD's that I bought with Christmas money finally arrived!!!! I'm so excited!!! It's so nice to have all of them and they're all mine! Ashley can't yell at me for having "family movies" anymore yay!

Well Happy Friday the 13th Everybody!
I survived the first week of school! My classes are good and I'm really happy with the Prof's. Rush week also went well. There were a few dirty looks from the "Other Sorority" but that's to be expected. Last night was the first "Studio Thursday" after school started to pretty much everyone on the floor got drunk and went out to party. Alicia and I had early classes so, surprise surprise, we stayed in and watched movies. At least that was the plan. At 9:15, Vicki, one of my fellow sorority sisters, walks into the common room and tell me Keltey on the floor is getting sick from drinking too much. So I go and take care of her. I put her hair up so she doesn't get sick on it. And I pretty much force her to drink water and eat crackers. She's fine and feeling a lot better but last night she was a wreak. It was honestly the most disgusting thing I've ever done and I not only held her hair while she was sick but helped her change her clothes and washed out her puke bucket several times. I also read to her to try and take her mind off it.
All something I hopefully won't have to repeat tomorrow. It is Meagan (DHI)'s Birthday tomorrow and me and a few other girls are going to Calgary for her birthday. I don't know exactly where we're going but its to a couple of bars (I'm designated driver) and staying with one of her friends. I'm pretty excited as it's the first away trip I've had away from the University aside from Rookie Camp. I'll let you know how it goes!

So first couple days of classes went really well. I still have Vox Musica (which is choir) but I'm not worried about that. I also have all of my textbooks for under $100!!! I'm so happy about that as I needed 5 novels for English and Textbooks for each Archaeology, Statistics and Macroeconomics. I love all of my teachers which is also really surprising. They seem fun, and yes I know the courses will be hard, but I feel that if I stay on top of my reading and homework, it won't be that stressful. In English I have to read "A Modest Proposal" by Dr. Jonathan Swift and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Man with the Twisted Lip" by Friday. So the work begins!
Today is also the 2nd day of Rush Week at the University so I'm busy with DHI trying to get new pledges, which is proving difficult with the fact that this Kappa Pi Chi attempt at a sorority has been more or less grabbing girls as they walk by. Its sad but it's actually pretty entertaining the look of sheer terror on their faces when their grabbed. Oh well! We must accept what we cannot change.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in a while, but I've been really busy with school and then holidays. Christmas was really nice this year and I don't think I've posted this but I finished my first semester with a GPA of 3.65! I'm so happy!
Anyways, today was my first full day back. Alicia, me and a new girl on the floor, Lauren, went downtown today to pick up my printer and Alicia wanted a hair cut. We hung out at the mall for a while, and we decided we wanted to see a movie so we bought tickets for the 3:30 showing of Sherlock Holmes then went to Staples to pick up my printer as they would be closed by the time we got out of the movie. Boy was that thing awkward to carry. It wasn't heavy, just awkward. Before we went in though, we were stopped my management because the printer box was too big. It wasn't a big deal though, because management said they'd keep it safe for me.The movie was good, awesome ending but I won't spoil it for you! After getting back to the floor, we said hi to the other's back on the floor, watched a movie that I have no idea of the title. Then hung out, played some pool and some risk in the Void for a couple hours. Basically just enjoyed each other's company.
